Mobil's History:

Mobil was previously known as Socony-Vacuum Oil Company, a major American oil company.  After the break-up of Standard Oil in 1911, the Standard Oil Company of New York, (Socony for short), was founded. In 1920, the company registered the name "Mobiloil" as a trademark.
Mobil at Hicksville, New York, continues as a major brand name and as a gas station, repair shop, body shop, and they have their own Mini-Mart store. In 1999 Mobil merged with Exxon to form ExxonMobil.

Through the years...

Mobil in Hicksville, N.Y.
The Mobil logo has changed over the years. The Pegasus logo is shown first on the right and as the slide show continues you will see the sketch drawing done for the new 1964 logo. The third image is the 1964 logo in color. The "o" stands out in red for the purpose of helping people to pronounce "MO-bil" correctly and not pronounce the word like "Mobile" which is incorrect.
The following images show the old gas pumps used by Mobil and the last image shows our Mobil station here in Hicksville New York.
